The 2025 theme, “Superheroes behind the Smiles,” captures the importance of dental assistants to a successful dental practice. Their diverse responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks that are essential for ensuring smooth and efficient patient care. From preparing treatment rooms to supporting dentists during treatment, dental assistants play a pivotal role in creating a positive and comfortable dental experience for patients. 

Mortenson Dental Partners recognizes the important role of dental assistants and is committed to providing opportunities for their growth. In 2024, we launched the Dental Assistant Clinical Competencies program, a modern approach to professional growth that cultivates a culture of continuous learning and development. Through this program, dental assistants are assessed on core skills as well as skills that align with MDP’s strategic initiatives, including clear aligners, sedation, cosmetics and more. The Dental Assistant Clinical Competencies program identifies and elevates dental assistant skills that are crucial to the success of the practice and patient care. It also recognizes and rewards dental assistants for sustained, higher clinical proficiency, allowing them to influence their own compensation and career growth.
